Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou has some thinking to do in terms of who to name in the Spurs defence this Saturday.

Tottenham are without Micky van de Ven, who has suffered a hamstring injury that is expected to rule him out until the New Year.

Cristian Romero is also unavailable for Spurs after his sending off in Monday night's Premier League loss to Chelsea at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Eric Dier is all-but assured of a place in the starting XI, but who could play as the second centre-back is not so clear cut.

There have been indications that 18-year-old Tottenham summer signing Ashley Phillips could be in the squad, and potentially start alongside Dier.

Meanwhile, the Evening Standard has predicted that Ben Davies would come in as the left-sided centre-back.

There is another option who may not necessarily start for Tottenham, but could potentially be on the bench. Namely, Alfie Dorrington.

Dorrington has 'impressed' Tottenham insiders The 18-year-old centre-back has been at Tottenham for five years and has quickly risen through the ranks into the Under-21s.

This season, Dorrington has made eight Premier League 2 appearances - registering an assist - and three EFL Trophy outings.

The 6ft 5in defender (Superhotspur) has helped Spurs' U21s achieve a 100 percent record from their opening eight Premier League 2 games of the season.

For instance, football.london's Alasdair Gold, speaking on a Q&A earlier this season, said the 18-year-old Spurs gem is a "terrific young defender".

Meanwhile, Dean Jones of GiveMeSport has reported that "many close observers are actually more impressed" by Dorrington than by Phillips.

Although a start may come too soon for Dorrington against Wolves - Phillips has senior experience from his Blackburn days - he may well get an outing off the bench.
