West Brom have been dealt a massive blow, with star attacker John Swift set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

As per the club's official website (10 October), he has been ruled out for six weeks with a calf strain suffered against Birmingham City on Friday (6 October).

The winger put his side ahead in the Championship clash at St Andrew's in the fifth minute, but was forced off with the injury late in the second half.

However, with every cloud comes a silver lining, and manager Carlos Corberan will be hoping that someone can effortlessly replace star man Swift.

And that may just be youngster Tom Fellows, who replaced the injured winger against the Blues on Friday. Despite being on the pitch for less than 20 minutes, the 20-year-old certainly caught the eye, with Fellows winning six of his eight ground duels (75%), as per Sofascore.

Moreover, he made two tackles, completed two of his three dribble attempts, and won his side two fouls during his impressive cameo.

The performance did not go unnoticed by his manager, with Corberan predicting more minutes for the youngster in the coming months.

"I think Fellows is going to be a very good player in the Championship," said Corberan, as quoted by Birmingham Live (10 October).

"Still, he is going to need time but, for me, I was very pleased with what I saw of him on the pitch and normally we are going to watch him much more on the pitch."

As mentioned, player of the season so far Swift will be a massive miss, but Fellows can help ease Corberan's struggles with more impressive displays down the line, either from the start or from the bench.

It's a golden opportunity for the youngster, but he does have big boots to fill, with Swift banging in six goals already this season.
