Movie night in MaidenThe Maiden Business Association will be hosting its annual "Spooktacular Movie Night" on Saturday at 6:30 p.

m.

"Hotel Transylvania" will be screened at the Maiden Municipal Park at 220 E.

Cemetery St.

Admission is free.

Attendees will be served free hot dogs, popcorn and water.

Children will also get to play on a giant inflatable slide.

Children and adults are encouraged to come dressed in costume.

People are welcome to bring blankets and lawn chairs.

Taylorsville Apple FestivalThe 33rd annual Taylorsville Apple Festival will be Saturday from 9 a.

m.

to 5 p.

m.

The streets of downtown Taylorsville will be lined with vendors and activities.

According to the organization's Facebook post, this will be the largest Taylorsville Apple Festival to date.

Symphony concertThe Western Piedmont Symphony presents "Masterworks: Other Worlds.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art describes a pipa as a four-string plucked lute.

The instrument's sound will be beautifully brought to life by the virtuosic Wu Man.

As part of the Silkroad Ensemble, conceived by Yo-Yo Ma in 2000, Wu Man has been featured on an album that won a Grammy and a documentary that won an Emmy.

Because of Man's contribution to the preservation of traditional music and bringing the pipa to modern audiences around the world, she was recently named a 2023 NEA National Heritage Fellow, the United States' most prestigious honor in the traditional and folk arts.

Concert tickets are $20, $30, $40 and $50 with $10 tickets available for students with valid ID.

In Albuquerque, the New Mexico sky was a colorful array of simple science and smiles as the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta opened on Sunday, October 7th.

This nine-day festival features hundreds of hot air balloons as well as countless activities and food for the whole family.

On Friday, the gates will open at 3 p.

On Saturday, the gates will open at 7 a.

Sunday is Military Appreciation Day.
