The 34-year-old had been playing for Swindon Town after re-joining them in December 2022, but after 16 months he is being moved on. Swindon have announced their retained list and he is one of 11 players that will be departing the County Ground.
He turns 35 in July and will now have a decision to make over where he next plays. He is a striker that worked his way up from the non-league beginning with Kintbury Rangers to 2006 to reaching the Premier League with several different clubs.
Swindon in 2009 gave him his first chance of EFL football in 2009 and he was shortly snapped up by Burnley where he had a successful spell almost scoring a goal every game. Austin got to grace the Premier League with QPR scoring a respectable 18 goals in 35 games for the Hoops.
He had four seasons as a player at Southampton all in the Premier League and later moved to West Brom in 2019, helping them win promotion with 10 goals in 34 games. He appeared just five times in the Premier League for the Baggies though and later returned to QPR before a six-month stint with Brisbane Roar in the 2022/23 season.
