West Brom boss Carlos Corberan has declared that he mercifully has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the visit of Plymouth Argyle to The Hawthorns on Saturday, as he seeks to find ways to cope with the already extensive problems the club are contending with.
Corberan, without summer signings Josh Maja and Jeremy Sarmiento already, lost John Swift at Birmingham City prior to this international break to a serious calf injury.
The playmaker, Albion's top scorer, will miss the entirety of this block of fixtures and is due, along with Maja, to return after the November international break.
In the meantime, Corberan - who has been working at the club's Walsall training ground without international stars Semi Ajayi, Grady Diangana and Jayson Molumby - has confirmed that no are now worries aside from those Albion are already without, and that that trio have returned following their globetrotting in good health.
"The international players have arrived in very good conditions, the players who have been working here have been training well and recovering well," Corberan said.
"Everyone who we don't mention, who is Maja, who is Swift, who is Sarmiento, the last injuries we've had, are in good conditions.
"Corberan immediately knew Swift was in bother when he signalled to be withdrawn at St Andrew's a fortnight ago; he has been among Albion's best performers, if not the outright best, in the opening weeks of this season and Corberan couldn't disguise that it wasn't a serious blow, but he admits that it might've been caused by a knock-on effect from demanding more from those players who remained available to him.
"As soon as he asked for the change, because he felt the muscle, you can start to guess in your mind that there could be an injury," Corberan said.
"Sometimes it's a consequence of previous injuries, because as soon as you have more players like Maja or Sarmiento, you have more options to rotate.
When you don't have this because of injuries, and when you are playing games in a row as we were, three games in six days, you are going to have the risk.
"There is the risk of injury in games.
We need to take it.
Reducing the risk of injury in training is something that we must focus on, because I can accept injuries in games because you need to win them.
There is a price trying to do this.
In training, even when you are developing your team, you need to reduce the maximum number of injuries in training.
"So far, we have done this.
The injuries have been in the games, but at the same time you need to prepare the players in training so that they don't get injured in the games! It's not an easy process, but it's a necessary process to be aware of and to control.
"Sarmiento, meanwhile, won't be available until the visit of Hull City at the beginning of next month at the very earliest.
"No, he won't be in the team," Corberan added.
"The only option is that we recover him for the last two games before the international break - maybe.
For the first three games, no.
If he arrives well, he could help the team in the last two.
"How would you line Albion up against Plymouth if you were Corberan?.
