West Brom have been dealt a further injury blow after Carlos Corberan confirmed that Jeremy Sarmiento has suffered a setback.
The on-loan winger was on course to return from injury after the international break having seen his Baggies career be stop-start due to fitness concerns.
Now Corberan has confirmed that he is set to miss the next three games at least, but the team is hoping they can have him available for the two games before the next international break next month.
"No, he won't be in the team," Corberan said, as quoted by Birmingham Live (20 October).
"The only option is that we recover him for the last two games before the international break - maybe.
For the first three games, no.
If he arrives well, he could help the team in the last two.
"There are big concerns at The Hawthorns right now because of the sheer amount of injury problems we have got, and the severity of them too.
Daryl Dike isn't expected back until the new year and Josh Maja is out until next month at least too, while arguably the best performing player of the season so far in John Swift is out for a while with a calf problem.
But Corberan has remained calm and found solutions that have seen the team string together some positive results, but the sooner he is able to have more options to call upon the better.
When Sarmiento returns it will ease the load on some of the other attacking players in the squad, and will give him a chance to finally make a solid impression with the fans.
It's been a slow start to his career but the hope is that he can get fit and start delivering this season to help us in our goal of getting back to the Premier League.
