'Bang in form' - Pundit wowed by 'Consistent' West Brom star, he is 'Vital' to play-off hopes

Carlton Palmer believes West Brom must keep "consistent" Grady Diangana fit and firing if they're to have any chance of fulfilling their Championship play-off aspirations.

Diangana and Thomas-Asante were both on the scoresheet as the Albion beat the Sky Blues 2-0 at the CBS Arena on Monday night (30 October) to climb to fifth in the table ahead of this weekend's next round of fixtures.

The DR Congo international has enjoyed some tremendous form for the Baggies in recent matches, now scoring two goals and registering two goals and one assist in his last four starts for the club and Palmer believes it is "vital" that Diangana keeps performing to boost their play-off hopes.

Speaking to Football League World (2 November), he said: "One player who is bang in form for the Baggies is Grady Diangana, who has been amongst the goals recently.

"With injuries to their forwards, such as Daryl Dike, he has chipped in with vital goals in recent games.

"He has been a consistent performer for West Brom over the past few seasons, with 41 appearances in the 2021-22 season, and 31 appearances last season, so it's vital he stays fit and keeps performing with West Brom's aspirations this season to be play-offs or better."

Crucial time

Diangana is in the best form he's been in for a long time at West Brom and his return to form has come at a crucial time for Corberan and the whole club.

The former West Ham winger has scored in each of his last two Championship appearances for the Black Country club and he also managed to assist John Swift's goal at Birmingham four games ago.

Even away from his direct involvement in goals, Diangana is showing why the club signed him permanently from the Hammers three years ago.

The DR Congo international has regularly been associated with inconsistency at the Hawthorns in the past but it is indeed vitally important that Corberan keeps him motivated and firing given their troubled injury list right now.

When Diangana is in this kind of mood, he is definitely unplayable and can become one of the most instrumental figures for the club should they remain in a similar position by the time Christmas and New Years comes around.

Diangana's biggest worry will certainly be his fitness and with the weather getting colder and the fixture list getting more congested, that'll be something on Corberan's mind too.

In other West Brom news, this senior player may never start for Corberan again after what he did against Coventry, he was woeful.
