Midfielder rumour wide of the mark

Stan Collymore's prediction that David Moyes will attempt to sign Scott McTominay in three months appears to be off the mark. Collymore, the former Liverpool striker, believes that West Ham United will make another effort to acquire the Scotland international, despite their PS30 million offer being rejected in the summer.

Collymore expressed doubt about McTominay's chances of becoming a regular player under Erik Ten Hag at Old Trafford. He suggested that McTominay could be a good fit for Eddie Howe's high-work rate system at Newcastle United, but he also hinted that David Moyes and West Ham might pursue the player in the New Year.

Midfielder rumour wide of the mark. McTominay is unlikely to join the Hammers.

However, it's worth noting that West Ham's midfield is already well-stocked, and our primary need is a striker, as many fans would likely agree. The club has indicated that any January transfer funds will be directed toward strengthening the forward line.

Even if additional funds were available, they might be earmarked for full-backs or a left winger. Edson Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse currently occupy the two midfield positions, with Lucas Paqueta, Mohammed Kudus, and Tomas Soucek competing for the remaining starting spot.

Given this, it seems highly unlikely that West Ham would approve a multi-million-pound offer for McTominay.
