Roland Sallai has claimed that West Ham United tried to sign him from Freiburg in the summer transfer window.

West Ham beat Freiburg in the Europa League just before the international break, and Roland Sallai scored the Bundesliga side's goal in a 2-1 win for the Hammers.

The East London outfit were actually linked with a move to sign the 26-year-old winger in the January transfer window of this year.

However, it seems as though Hammers boss David Moyes made another attempt to sign him in the summer as well.

Moyes seemingly tried to sign another winger before he brought the Ghanaian to the London Stadium though...

And he lifted the lid on the Hammers' attempts to bring him to East London in the summer transfer window, as quoted by TuttoMercatoWeb:

The 46-capped Hungary international can play on either wing or in the number 10 position, but his natural position is out wide on the right.

He has bagged 23 goals and 21 assists in 134 appearances for Freiburg, and this term he has four goals and two assists to his name in 10 games (Transfermarkt).

Sallai proved his quality with two goals for Hungary against England back in June 2022 during an emphatic 4-0 win for his county.

In total he has scored 12 goals in 46 caps for his country. He is a powerful runner and a tremendous all-round athlete.

Bence Bocsak claimed that Freiburg want around PS17 million for Roland Sallai, and it remains to be seen whether or not West Ham will go back in for him.
