£18m player now surplus to requirements at West Ham after Moyes twist - report

Maxwel Cornet has been made surplus to requirements at West Ham after possibly losing the trust of David Moyes at the London Stadium, according to Claret & Hugh.

The West Ham news source shared via their website on 20 October that, having been anonymous since his injury concerns last season, Cornet is no longer a main option for Moyes.

The Ivorian winger has made just three appearances in all competitions so far this season, with his only start coming amid heavy rotation for the Carabao Cup clash with Lincoln City.

Time's up

It has felt for a while that Cornet's time at the London Stadium was coming to an end. He has hardly featured for the Hammers since his spell out with injury last season, and there were some heavy links to an exit in the summer transfer window.

Ultimately though, he remains in Moyes' side, but game time even from the bench has been a rarity, and he seems to no longer be in the manager's consideration, even in the rotation that normally takes place for Europa League games.

The form of Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Pqueta give the Ivorian no chance of getting into the first team, while having the likes of Mohammed Kudus and even Said Benrahma on the bench leaves Cornet a long way down the pecking order.

A January move could now be on the cards, with Everton having been linked in the summer with a potential reunion with Sean Dyche on the cards, but his long-term future certainly doesn't seem to be at the London Stadium.

In other West Ham news, David Moyes has shared a new contract update.
