A big Jesse Lingard twist after talkSPORT's latest claim means that a transfer to West Ham United could still be on.

Jesse Lingard spent around a month training with West Ham before the start of this season, in a bid to get fit and earn a contract at the London Stadium.

However, the Hammers failed to offer the 30-year-old a deal, and it seemed as though he was closing in on a move to Saudi side Al-Ettifaq.

However, there has now been a very big twist indeed...

Big Jesse Lingard twist after talkSPORT claim means West Ham transfer could still be on David Moyes may well have another bite at the cherry when it comes to signing Lingard it seems.

MORE WEST HAM STORIES

That's because talkSPORT are claiming that the former Manchester United and Nottingham Forest attacker's proposed move to Saudi side Al-Ettifaq could be off.

Apparently, his demands are proving to be too much for the Saudi Pro League side - shock horror!

If that is indeed the case, the door could be open for the Hammers to make yet another attempt to sign Lingard on a free transfer.

The option may well be there for Moyes though, and we all know how much the Scot rates the 30-year-old.

Jesse Lingard was superb for West Ham during his four-month stay at the club during the 2020/21 campaign, bagging nine goals and four assists in just 16 Premier League games (Transfermarkt). However, I truly believe that that ship has sailed, and he's just not the same player anymore.

That said, I would never rule out Moyes bringing the 32-capped England international back to East London. He just has such a strong obsession with him it seems.

And if he is still looking for a club in January, the rumours will undoubtedly start up once again.
