View: West Ham may be forced into David Moyes sack decision after new update
Source:Westhamzone

Few managers have had more successful stints in charge of West Ham United in recent years than David Moyes, with the Scotsman going from strength to strength at the London Stadium.

After a difficult start to last season saw some supporters call for a change of manager, the former Manchester United boss turned the tide to not only keep the Hammers comfortably in the Premier League but also lift the Europa Conference League.

That's been followed up with an excellent start to the current season, which has seen the Irons once again in the hunt for the European places while also remaining unbeaten in the Europa League. But for whatever reason, it still feels as though Moyes could be on borrowed time.

Moyes admitted that he won't be rushed into talks over extending his contract with West Ham, which currently expires at the end of the campaign saying that when the time is right he will discuss his future with those above him at the London Stadium [Daily Mail, 21 October].

While there is every chance that this results in the 60-year-old extending his stay in East London, in the coming months when the end of the campaign draws closer, it may provide the Hammers with a difficult decision to make should they want to begin talks.

Moyes has undoubtedly brought success to West Ham during his time in charge, but the Irons cannot afford to find themselves in a situation where they don't have a manager in position for next season, should the Scotsman opt to take a step back.

There have been some suggestions that a younger manager with a more attacking brand of football may be able to make this Irons side a more exciting prospect and should Moyes be reluctant to sign a new deal in the next few months, the Hammers may have a decision to make.

If they were to sack Moyes before the season is up, it would allow a new manager to come in and assess the squad over the final few matches to understand where they would need strengthening over the summer transfer window and begin to instil their style of play.

West Ham won't be rushed into any decisions over player or manager contracts this year, so it is unlikely Moyes' current position is under any threat, especially given the excellent start to the season the Irons have had under the 60-year-old.

But if this contract situation isn't solved sooner rather than later, it wouldn't be a shock to see the Hammers make a change at the top, it may be forced to move on.
