“It is normal” | West Ham boss denies any ongoing issue with Kudus

Julen Lopetegui has dismissed the idea that there is any bitterness between him and Mohammed Kudus.

As football fans, it's almost impossible to actually know what happens behind the scenes. We may get glimpses of it now and again, but the large majority of what happens is a mystery.

Unfortunately, this means when something does get leaked or released that it can cause things to be blown way out of proportion, which is certainly the case with the incident between Mohammed Kudus and Julen Lopetegui.

During halftime of the Brentford game, an altercation took place due to the fact that the Hammers' manager decided to take off the winger. Understandably, he wasn't very happy about this and made this very clear. This information was then spoken about in the commentary, resulting in everyone knowing about it.

Speculation instantly arose that Kudus would never play for the Hammers again, that Lopetegui had lost the dressing room, and plenty of other stories with no substance. The truth is, this happens regularly in every stadium up and down the country, and the gaffer has been keen to point out that the situation is done with.

"It is normal that when you change one player he is not going to be happy but the most important thing always is the team," Lopetegui explained.

"It was a tactical substitution, no more. It wasn't only him, Emerson came out too. It is normal, when you have five substitutions you try to change any things that you think you can do better in the second half, above all if you are losing."

"I don't talk about any reaction or one substitution, for me the whole thing was normal."

The fact that Kudus was so angry can only be a good thing. It shows he cares and he now knows that the gaffer will make bold decisions if he sees fit.
