Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna says his team conceded 'poor goals at poor times' in this afternoon's 4-1 defeat at West Ham.
Michail Antonio gave the Hammers the lead inside the first minute before Liam Delap bagged his fourth goal of the season to equalise in the sixth minute.
The Blues continued to be the architects of their own downfall in the game though as Mohammed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen scored either side of half-time before Lucas Paqueta wrapped things up.
"We weren't too far off it being a good, competitive performance, but there were some moments in there that completely changed the momentum of the game. In the end, West Ham were worthy winners and were much better in the second half."
Kalvin Phillips gave the ball away cheaply in the build-up to the opener, while Ben Johnson's poor back pass led to the third. Sam Morsy was also fortunate that a giveaway in his own box didn't lead to a goal when Dara O'Shea cleared off the line.
Asked if the biggest frustration was that his team gave West Ham a helping hand, McKenna replied: "I think that's fair. If half-time had gone at 30/35 minutes, I think we would have been happy, feeling it had been a good, competitive game and that we still had more to come.
"But they didn't have to work too hard for their goals. The fourth one was good play by them, but we still didn't defend it well enough.
"Other than that the goals came too easily from things that were too simple. They've got excellent quality and if you give them the chances then they can certainly capitilise on them."
With a four-game unbeaten run having come to an end heading into the second international break of the season, McKenna continued: "West Ham played differently than anyone we've played so far, to be honest. They were very direct. That was what we struggled with.
"They were really direct into Antonio, who did a great job with the aerial stuff and bringing others into play. They went direct into Soucek and probably did better than us on the second balls. It was really those moments that we struggled to deal with the most.
"It's different when the game goes to three and four-one, they show their individual quality and had some passages of play then, but for the first 60 minutes of the game it was the direct play that we didn't deal with well enough. The goals and chances generally came from those moments.
"There were some mistakes from us, some good play from West Ham and lots for us to learn."
Meanwhile, McKenna revealed why Axel Tuanzebe missed out on this game.
"He's done a hand injury, a very unfortunate accident. He's had surgery and will be out for a while. It's not going to be a couple of weeks, probably longer. There are still discussions with the specialists.
"He's naturally a miss with the way he's started the season. He's going to be out for a little while. We're going to have to adjust and regroup as a team."
