Michail Antonio was "bizarrely" credited with Mohammed Kudus' goal at the London Stadium during West Ham v Ipswich Town, Jack Rosser has pointed out.
The Sun journalist posted on X (5 October) after Kudus' header had put the Irons 2-1 up two minutes before half-time, but noted that the London Stadium's announcer gave the goal to Antonio.
Antonio had already got himself on the scoresheet inside the opening minute, but his header towards goal in the 43rd bounced down off the crossbar before being nodded home from close range by Kudus.
Antonio, Kudus and West Ham back to their best against Ipswich Although no striker will complain at being falsely credited with someone else's goal, Antonio will have been more than happy to see his headed effort turned in by Kudus for his first goal of the season.
Kudus was arguably the Irons' best player throughout last season, but a slow start to the new campaign has raised questions over both his ability and relationship with Julen Lopetegui [The Athletic, 2 October].
West Ham deserve to be back in front. Created plenty in the last few minutes.
Announcer bizarrely gives the goal to Antonio and Kudus but Antonio's header didn't go in. First of the season for Kudus. #WHUFC

A goal to send the Hammers on their way to a 4-1 win over Ipswich on Saturday (5 October), therefore, is the perfect way for Kudus to finally kick-start his season, with Lopetegui's front four all getting on the scoresheet.
Antonio scoring his first goal of the season - a mere 48 seconds into the contest - will also lift a massive weight off the striker's shoulders amid calls for him to be dropped from the starting side.
The Jamaican international is under clear pressure to keep his spot, with Danny Ings and Niclas Fullkrug waiting in the wings, but for the time being at least, he and Kudus' places in the team are secure.
