West Ham United are expected to scour the European transfer market for a new goalscorer, according to TEAMtalk.

The publication reported on its website on Friday (10 November) that the Hammers could need a new striker "more urgently" than next summer.

As per BBC Sport, winger Jarrod Bowen tops the club's scoring charts this season with eight goals, with fellow attacker Mohammed Kudus in second with five.

"West Ham are set to cast their net across Europe in a bid to find a goalscorer that can take the team to the next level and match the club's ambition," according to TEAMtalk.

The publication added that given the current situation, West Ham could need a striker "more urgently" than waiting until next summer.

New striker needed

It is becoming increasingly clear that a new hitman is needed at the London Stadium if the Hammers are to take things to the next level in all competitions.

They have dealt with the step up to the Europa League following last season's Europa Conference League win, while they are also going strong in the League Cup, having secured a place in the quarter-finals.

But the club's Premier League position may worry manager Moyes, with the potential there for the Hammers to continue sliding down the standings if they aren't careful. Moreover, it is winger Bowen who is banging in the goals along with the versatile summer arrival Kudus.

Put more plainly, strikers Michail Antonio and Danny Ings are pretty much nowhere to be seen on that list, while youngster Divin Mubama has barely featured this time around.

The futures of all three players at the London Stadium are up in the air, with the club already light in that area after the sale of Gianluca Scamacca in the summer.
