Dharmesh Sheth has suggested a move to appoint Rafa Benitez as the West Ham boss may be off the cards due to the appointment and influence of Tim Steidten.
The technical director who was appointed in the summer has seen his influence steadily grow in East London, and Sheth claims he will be part of the decision-making process over a new boss.
It was also hinted that there is still the possibility that Moyes could be offered a new deal, but if he isn't, he will walk away with his profile and stock still very high.
The Sky Sports reporter was speaking to GIVEMESPORT on 13 November when he shared: "The [Rafa] Benitez one is interesting because I think this was before they brought in the technical director in Tim Steidten.
"Now, you would expect Tim Steidten in his role, not only to have a huge say in the players that arrive at the club but also who's going to be managing these players.
"Now, David Moyes is in the final year of his contract. We don't know exactly what is going to happen, but West Ham, we do know, will probably have to sort this out sooner rather than later.
"Either they say to David Moyes, we see you as the future, here's a long-term contract, we want you to work alongside Tim Steidten and you work together, and this is how we want the club to look.
"Or it will be a case of I'll see out this year of my contract, I'll go for a new challenge, everyone shakes hands and David Moyes leaves with his profile still very, very high and his stock still really, really high."
A decision needs to be made
Speculation of this type will continue until West Ham make a firm decision about the future of their boss, whether that be allowing him to leave the club at the end of his current deal or convincing him to remain with a new view for the club, the uncertainty needs to be ended.
The suggestion that Moyes could extend his stay but in a slightly different role could be an interesting proposition. Steidten's influence in East London has been increasing since his arrival, which has reportedly riled Moyes, but a slightly different role may appeal.
This has come after it was reported the next Hammers boss could be a head coach rather than a manager, meaning he would have less influence behind the scenes and be more focused on the players and on-field goings-on.
Whether Moyes would agree to a change in his position in terms of influence is unknown, and probably unlikely given the control he likes to have at a club, but perhaps it would be worth a try.
In other West Ham news, Simon Jordan made a comparison to Mauricio Pochettino in a recent Moyes claim.
