Dyche sends spies on Everton transfer mission for 'Rising star' at North-West club - report

Everton are in the hunt to sign Wigan goalkeeper Sam Tickle as they look to land the "next Jordan Pickford", according to Alan Nixon.

The newspaper journalist reported on his Patreon on Sunday (5 November) that Sean Dyche has sent spies to watch the 21-year-old "rising star" for the League One side.

He added that the Latics keeper has recently attracted interest from other clubs, but that the Toffees could come in for him if they can "find the funds" to complete a deal.

Makes sense

It makes complete sense for Everton to be scouting players in the lower leagues as they try and find a young keeper that could one day replace Pickford.

The England international is likely to still have a fair few years left in him at just 29, but it would be an ideal situation for someone to come in and operate under him as a backup.

Whether that could prove to be Tickle is anyone's guess, but he has clearly caught the Toffees' eye this season after breaking into the Wigan first team.

He's kept six clean sheets in 19 appearances in all competitions despite playing in a Latics side that is struggling at the bottom end of the League One table.

The Lancashire club has had financial difficulties for a number of years, so it potentially wouldn't take too much to persuade them into selling the keeper as the January transfer window approaches.
