Wolves loanee fighting for several available spots – Club keen for it to work

As Wolverhampton Wanderers certainly watch Goncalo Guedes' situation at Benfica, it seems he's getting all the necessary support to succeed in his current loan spell.

Portuguese newspaper A Bola today has a story claiming the player is competing with nine other teammates for a place in the team.

That's because Guedes can play on both wings and as a centre-forward, so he's basically fighting for any available spot in Benfica's attack.

The Wolves loanee returned to action at the weekend, playing for 86 minutes against Estoril. That was his comeback after the five months he spent sidelined due to a knee surgery.

The attacker now needs to break another mark, which is his goal drought, as he hasn't scored in nearly eight months. With Benfica having big faith in him, that could end up happening in the coming weeks.

Guedes had already been loaned to Benfica in January, but due to his knee injury, there were no big offers for him in the summer, and his spell was renewed for a year. Wolves can now only hope he does well this season, as he's valued by Transfermarkt at EUR23m and could be involved in a good deal next summer.
