Max Eberl has been appointed as the new sports director for FC Bayern Munich, following reports from Sky. The 50yearold former Gladbach and Leipzig manager is expected to start his new role at the German football record champions during the latter part of this season. His longstanding association with Bayern made him a top choice for Uli Hoeness.
The official confirmation of Eberl's appointment by the supervisory board is expected in February, with reports suggesting that he will sign a longterm contract with Bayern. This move comes after significant changes in leadership at Bayern last year when both Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic departed from their roles.
Eberl's connection with Bayern dates back to his playing days in early 1990s where he featured for both amateur and professional teams before pursuing a managerial career. With this addition, FC Bayen’s executive board grows again alongside CEO JanChristian Dreesen Michael Diederich und Andreas Jung onboard but it was also announced that Andreas Jung plans to step down in summer 2024.
Leipzig had parted ways with Ebel due partly because they felt there was no clear commitment from him towards them which opened up opportunities for other clubs including Liverpool showing interest however RB demanded around five million euros if any such deal were reached so its unclear what fee would be paid now or later regarding their agreement
