Ahead of their highly anticipated Champions League match against Atletico Madrid next Wednesday, Celtic supporters have been urged by the Green Brigade to show their support for the people of Palestine.

The Green Brigade released a statement, calling for fans to "proudly stand up for the people of Palestine" as they express concern over what they describe as "the genocide of Palestinians."

The fans group were under the spotlight in the aftermath of the Kilmarnock match, where they showed solidarity with the Palestinian people. The club had tried to quietly release a statement condemning the display, by not posting the update on social media.

Tensions between Israel and Palestine have been rising quite dramatically over the past few weeks, with thousands of innocent civilians caught in the crossfire.

The group has warned fans to "be courageous" as the show solidarity with Palestine, with fears that the club may try to intervene in the act of solidarity.

"As the genocide of Palestinians accelerates, we once again call on the Celtic support to proudly stand up for the people of Palestine.

"On 25th October, v Atletico Madrid, we encourage all fans to fly the national flag of Palestine.

"This small act of solidarity carries significant meaning to those who are currently subject to indiscriminate bombing and unimaginable suffering because it lets them know that they are not alone.

"We are asking the Celtic support to remain true to the founding ethos of the club and to stand on the side of the oppressed.

"If you are unable to obtain a flag, we would like to encourage people to print the flag on paper or card

"Sadly, it is possible that there may be obstruction against this perfectly legal and entirely justified act of basic humanitarian solidarity. Please be courageous in the face of any such attempt."
