Atlético get some swagger back in a solid win over Las Palmas
Source:Into the

Called into action with a good save from Fabio Silva's one-on-one effort midway through the first half. That was about all Oblak had to do on Sunday. 5

Picked up an assist for Giuliano Simeone with an angled long ball down the right wing; Simeone took a headed touch to run onto the ball before sticking the ball to Jasper Cillessen's right. His best performance in a while, even with a few suboptimal decisions. 7

Misplaced only one pass over 90 minutes, although he lost six of his seven duels. 6

Back in the 11 after two weeks out due to ankle and knee sprains. Calm on the ball and able to stretch play wide with his passing, but his third yellow card in as many starts will maintain doubts over his defensive fit in a Diego Simeone system. 5.5

Insistent down the left flank, carrying the ball often and looking to cross when the opportunity arose. Struggled mightily in individual duels (lost 13 of 17) but his attacking presence is sorely needed with other players out of form. 6.5

Atletico Madrid's captain looked closer to his best version on Sunday, completing 71 of his 80 pass attempts and making eight recoveries in the center of the park. Atletico were calmer and more confident in possession as a result. 6

Simeone really can't do without Barrios, who slotted straight back into the team following his recovery from a muscle injury. It's easy to see why - he stung the palms of Cillessen early on and offered the kind of dynamism that can be hard to come by in this midfield. Removed at halftime as a precaution. 5

Giuliano Simeone

Rewarded for his strong performance against Vic with another start here. On 37 minutes, he scored his first goal for Atletico in LaLiga with a darting run forward from the right wing and a cool finish tucked inside the far post. 7

Another chance for the talented Brazilian to put his early-season woes behind him (zero goals and one assist from nine games played in LaLiga) but he didn't take it. Subbed off for Conor Gallagher at halftime. 4.5

Atletico thought it had won a penalty when defender Scott McKenna knocked down Griezmann's hopeful ball toward Alvarez, but referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea declined to give the pen after a VAR check. Struck the crossbar from a Barrios cross just before halftime in the midfielder's last action. 5

Set up a chance for Pablo Barrios inside the opening 10 minutes, unable to fashion any real chances for himself. 4.5

De Paul

Replaced Barrios at halftime. Found time in possession to ping passes through tight spaces or switch the play. No better example of this than his assist to Alexander Sorloth in the 83rd minute. 7

Replaced Lino at halftime. Brought the energy we've come to expect, as well as his important ball-winning ability. 5

Replaced Alvarez on 65 minutes. Had some success turning and dribbling in tight spaces, opening up room for others. 5

Replaced Griezmann on 65 minutes. Took full advantage of his opportunity on goal, receiving a ball in by de Paul and putting the nail in the coffin for Las Palmas with a well-placed finish. 7

Replaced Galan on 84 minutes. Added fresh legs to the defense. N/A

Replaced Giuliano Simeone on 84 minutes. Helped Atletico get over the line - this was Los Colchoneros' first clean sheet in LaLiga since Sept. 26. N/A
