Corberan expects West Brom starlet to leave for 'Nominal Fee' in summer - Journalist

Carlos Corberan has admitted that he expects Taylor Gardner-Hickman to leave West Brom for a "nominal fee" next summer, according to Joe Chapman.

Writing on his personal Twitter account (14 November), the Birmingham Live journalist was responding to fans after reporting that the manager is open to the return of both Gardner-Hickman and Karlan Grant who are currently out on loan.

But after a fan commented that the buy-option in Gardner-Hickman's deal was for just a nominal fee and would likely be triggered, Chapman shared that Corberan has accepted the chances of him returning are slim.

"Carlos accepts that there is a fair chance they execute that clause," he wrote.

The deal to allow Garnder-Hickman to leave the club in the summer was one that many people looked at and questioned, because it made little sense.

The young versatile player wasn't given many opportunities last season but when he did play he was often out of position, and he did impress on occasion too and it looked like he was ready to be given a bigger role this season.

Considering the financial situation of the club it wasn't a shock that the club were forced to let some people leave, but a loan move was odd especially to a rival club in the same division.

Now the decision to put in a buy-option for a tiny amount looks even more odd and we look certain to lose him despite there clearly being a spot for him in the squad.
