Manchester United have been linked with a move for Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners in recent weeks, with reports suggesting the club sent scouts to Italy to keep an eye on him.

The 26-year-old has been at Atalanta since 2021 and it sounds like he is ready to challenge himself elsewhere - preferably at a bigger club. That will depend on who shows an interest in him when the transfer window opens.

In an interview with Telegraaf.nl, Koopmeiners confirmed he has requested to leave Atalanta ahead of the summer transfer window.

United have been linked with several midfield targets, including Wolves' star Joao Gomes as a potential replacement for Casemiro.

It remains to be seen which midfield target will take priority.
