Liverpool are showing an interest in Genoa midfielder Morten Frendrup having been to Italy to scout the Danish ace in action.

Genoa midfielder Morten Frendrup is attracting interest from Liverpool after a strong start to life in Serie A.

That is according to Italian reporter Rudy Galetti, who claims that Liverpool have been watching Frendrup of late.

Liverpool invested in four new midfielders over the summer as Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch all arrived.

The Reds still appear keen on adding another midfield option though, especially one with a real defensive presence.

Liverpool interested in Genoa's Morten Frendrup Italian reporter Rudy Galetti claims that Genoa midfielder Morten Frendrup is now an option for Liverpool ahead of January.

Galetti claims that Liverpool have 'been watching' Frendrup ahead of a potential move.

Galetti highlights that Frendrup has the most tackles, interceptions and duels won in Serie A this season, producing outstanding defensive displays in the Genoa midfield.

The Dane isn't a big name yet but Liverpool may believe that he is the kind of player to develop alongside the more experienced Endo for that holding midfield role in the long term.

A defensive midfielder, Frendrup landed a senior debut for Brondby in 2018 before going on to make nearly 100 first-team appearances.

Frendrup impressed so much in Denmark that Genoa pounced to sign him in January 2022.

Genoa won promotion back to Serie A last season and Frendrup is now shining in the top flight.

Boss Alberto Gilardino has hailed Frendrup as 'heroic' given the incredible effort he puts in, whilst also suggesting that he is 'very intelligent'.

That certainly sounds like the kind of midfielder Jurgen Klopp would appreciate and Frendrup may become a rather under-the-radar target for Liverpool in January.
