Luis Enrique has defended his Paris Saint-Germain squad from criticism over their performances in this year's Champions League.
The former Spanish national team manager was speaking at a press conference ahead of hosting PSV Eindhoven tomorrow evening when he was asked about why his team had not been dominant in the Champions League.
There has been a criticism that PSG have looked off the pace in Europe after putting in somewhat unconvincing performances against FC Girona (which they won 1-0 courtesy of an own goal from Paulo Gazzaniga) and Arsenal (which they lost 2-0 after errors from Gianluigi Donnarumma).
However, Luis Enrique rejected this criticism stating instead "I think the team played very well against Girona. We didn't play as we wanted against Arsenal but I'm happy with what I've seen from my team this season. Where you see doubt, I see potential, and progress. There are things to improve that's for sure, but I'm very optimistic."
Luis Enrique's PSG back to winning ways Luis Enrique's squad were back to winning ways over the weekend as they secured their first victory in October. Les Parisiens defeated RC Strasbourg Alsace 4-2 at the Parc des Princes in a convincing victory that placed the club back on top of Ligue 1 after AS Monaco dropped points against Lille OSC.
