Girona still remains interested in signing Barcelona defender-turned-midfielder
Source:Barca News

The reality of this ongoing season for FC Barcelona is that Hansi Flick has managed to get the most out of his players. In many ways, this team has exceeded expectations simply by performing according to the German coach's blueprint. However, not every single player at Barcelona has had an equal role in this plan.

Stars like Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal, Pedri, and a few others are understandably the focal points of this team. However, that also means that there are players in the team who mainly act as rotational options for Hansi Flick to deploy as per the team's requirements.

A particular case that stands out in this regard is Eric Garcia, the former Manchester City defender who has been developed into a defensive midfielder at Barcelona, as he continues to remain a secondary option for Hansi Flick. However, he could end up having more prominence and better opportunities elsewhere.

According to SPORT, one club that is quite open to handing him that opportunity again is Michel's Girona. After his successful loan spell with them, Girona tried their best to retain his services but did not have much success in that regard. Now, however, they aim to have a second crack at that possibility if an opportunity presents itself.

Previously, it was reported that fellow La Liga side Real Sociedad was also interested in Garcia's services. However, in the case of Girona, Michel's side could really use a defensive addition to the team given that they have been struggling in terms of their defensive strength in this ongoing campaign.

As for Garcia, perhaps considering a departure would be beneficial to his long-term goals. Even in a depleted Barcelona side, he remains quite limited in terms of minutes. However, once the likes of Ronald Araujo and Andreas Christensen return from injury, his already limited participation could end up becoming non-existent.
