After the Foals' 1-1 draw in Heidenheim, we have the reactions of Robin Hack, Florian Neuhaus and the two head coaches Gerardo Seoane and Frank Schmidt.
Robin Hack: We're missing that consistency over the course of a match at the moment. Just like in Saarbrucken, we started the game well. We then went into our shell a bit and invited the opponent onto us. Heidenheim put us under a lot of pressure in the second half, and that cost us the win in the end. That's happened to us multiple times this season, so we'll definitely have to work on it. We're disappointed, but we're not hanging our heads and are trying to look ahead with positivity. If we work hard week after week, the good results will come back.
Florian Neuhaus: I thought we started the game well and did okay in the first half. In the second period, we lost all that momentum and couldn't create anything anymore. We started to play more long balls, let ourselves be pinned back and allowed Heidenheim to really pile on the pressure. They always managed to find a man free and put in a lot of crosses. We just can't let that happen, but it has done far too many times this season. We have to find a solution to this now. In the end, we have to be happy to have at least got a point.
Head coach Gerardo Seoane: We knew that it would be a difficult task for us after a tough few days following our exit from the Pokal. In the first half, we combined well in attack at times and created one or two dangerous situations. After the break, we let ourselves be penned in far too deep. Heidenheim were dangerous again and again from set pieces. In the final 15 minutes, we had more possession and controlled the game. I think our young side were up for the fight and united as a team after the justified criticism from the past few days.
Head coach Frank Schmidt(1. FC Heidenheim): We weren't good at all in the first half. We made too many mistakes and didn't win enough individual battles. But that was my fault. I hadn't drilled it into the team enough to press aggressively. That was our plan, and we worked on it during the week. It didn't work out, so we switched to a more attacking set-up at half time. We did a lot of things well after that and could even have won it with the header that hit the post. We're disappointed with that. We really wanted to win the game. But I always want my team to play the kind of football they did in the second half.
