Chelsea departure confirmed as swap deal considered and Romelu Lukaku 'cries' - Loan round-up
Source:Football

There is never a quiet week following Chelsea, and while the Blues' win over Tottenham on Monday night certainly proved that, there has been plenty of other activity at the club too. Mauricio Pochettino has a big squad to manage, and at the moment plenty of stars to help nurse back from injury too.

The Blues still have a number of players on their books plying their trade away from Stamford Bridge this season, and with 20 members of Chelsea's loan army, it's always busy. Even off the pitch in the past week, Chelsea have seen loan player technical coach, and former under-21 boss, Andy Myers depart from the club, to join fellow former Blues coach Joe Edwards at Millwall.

football.london takes a look at how Chelsea's on loan stars have got on over the past week.

Kepa Arrizabalaga - The Spanish goalkeeper kept a clean sheet in Real Madrid's goalless draw with Rayo Vallecano, but did have a shot on target to save. Reports do suggest that Los Blancos have an eye on completing a PS17.5million deal for Kepa and could include Andriy Lunin to help facilitate the transfer.

Teddy Curd - The young goalkeeper who is on loan at Hashtag United, has been called up for England's squad that will participate in the under-17 World Cup which gets underway this week.

Teddy Sharman-Lowe - Could only watch on from the bench as Bromley lost to Blackpool 2-0 in the FA Cup.

Gabriel Slonina - The American continued in goal for Eupen as they drew 1-1 away to Sint-Truidense VV.

Bashir Humphreys - The defender produced a solid performance as his 10-man Swansea side recorded a draw against Sunderland. Humphreys has also spoken about what led to his move.

The Swans loanee said: "I had a pretty long conversation with Mauricio Pochettino who told me, 'look, we're going to do what's best for you, not what's best for us'. Chelsea wanted me to stay, but I wanted to go somewhere where I can play, get better and improve."

Zak Sturge - The defender started at left wing-back as Peterborough drew 2-2 with Salford City in the FA Cup. The defender then didn't make it off the benchh when his side faced Wigan.

Andrey Santos - The Brazilian youngster watched on from the bench as Nottingham Forest defeated Aston Villa 2-0.

Tino Anjorin - The midfielder looks set to be out for six to eight weeks having picked up a hamstring injury in the first half of Portsmouth's defeat to Chesterfield. Having started Pompey's last two games and scored against Reading, it is a brutal setback for club and player.

Cesare Casadei - It was a difficult evening for Casadei as Leicester lost to Leeds and the Italian was the figure to lose Georginio Rutter in the build up to his goal.

Lewis Hall - The 19-year-old scored an impressive goal for Newcastle to help secure their progress in the Carabao Cup against Manchester United before returning to the bench for the Magpies win over Arsenal. Eddie Howe has explained Hall's slow introduction into the team.

He said: "He's a talented player. He can play various positions for us, which in our current position we are going to need. Lewis has been training well. He's been adapting to quite a big change in his life so for such a young player to move from London and settle in here, I think he's done it well. The best of him is yet to come, without a doubt. When you get an opportunity you have to take it, and Lewis has done that."

Started in Newcastle's Champions League defeat to Borussia Dortmund.

Omari Hutchinson - The winger completed the match in Ipswich's draw with Birmingham and provided the ball in that led to the Tractor Boy's 97th-minute equaliser. Came off the bench in Ipswich's 2-2 draw with Rotherham.

Harvey Vale - The 20-year-old scored in Bristol Rover's 7-2 FA Cup win over Whitby Town as he made an impact from the bench. Within a minute of coming off the bench against Reading on Tuesday, Vale provided an assist for Chris Martin that helped his side draw 1-1.

Charlie Webster - Came off the bench as Heerenveen tried to launch a comeback against Ajax but fell to a 4-1 defeat.

Diego Moreira - The loanee was absent from Lyon's squad for their 1-1 draw with Metz.

Mason Burstow - Was limited to a place on the bench as Sunderland fell to a 0-0 draw with Swansea. It's the second game in a row the forward has been left out of the starting XI and Tony Mowbray has explained why he initially took him out of the starting lineup.

He said: "You have to put into context the fact that he's still a young boy, he understands - and yet he will be disappointed [at being dropped to the bench], I'd expect him to be disappointed. He's come on loan, he hopes to come and play first and foremost, and then he hopes to score.

"I talked to him about the positives of what he has helped the team do, and he just needs a break, an opportunity where someone squares it to him for a tap-in to get him off and running. He'll be given an opportunity off the bench, and I have to make the call if I am starting with Rusyn, then who is the first one on next [from the bench]?"

David Datro Fofana - Having been suspended for a week after not shaking hands with Urs Fischer after being substituted, Fofana has already started mending bridges. Fofana was reinstated to Union Berlin's starting lineup but could not prevent a 3-0 defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Fischer noted of his decision: "It has to be said that he trained very well. He was there with full enthusiasm and showed that he accepted it."

Angelo Gabriel - In what is becoming a regular occurrence, Angelo Gabriel once again made it into Ligue 1's team of the week, via Whoscored. However, the Brazilian could not prevent his side from drawing 0-0 with Clermont Foot.

Romelu Lukaku - The Belgian forward continues to deliver for Roma and despite missing a penalty, scoring the winning goal as the Italian side earned a 2-1 comeback win over Lecce. Jose Mourinho praised his forward, who had a tear or two at full time.

Mourinho said: "The first penalty missed in Italy, the second or third with me. Only those who take the penalty miss a penalty, I'm never sad with those who miss the penalty. Dybala didn't have confidence, he didn't want to kick from a set piece due to his ligament, but Lukaku is an emotional boy who I know better than anyone after having coached him in three different teams and when he makes a mistake afterwards his heart cries and he suffers.

"Having the chance in the last minute to score the winning goal couldn't have been better and now he can sleep a little better and he is a boy with a big heart, very sensitive and emotional. When he misses the penalty after a minute his heart cries, his soul cries."

Dion Rankine - Continues to recover from injury.

Hakim Ziyech - Played an hour as Galatasaray won 2-0 against Kasimpasa.
