View: Clumsy Ibrox star stuck in rut - Three things learned in Rangers v Livi
Source: Ibroxnews

Rangers headed into the international break with their unbeaten start under Philippe Clement intact, with a 2-0 win over Livingston on Sunday 12 November.

Cyriel Dessers gave the Light Blues the lead midway through the first half only minutes after James Tavernier sent his penalty wide. But the Rangers captain made up for it in the second half as he slotted him from the spot to bring all three points back to Glasgow.

It was by no means the best performance under the Belgian this season, but the Light Blues worked hard to come out on top and keep their slim title hopes alive with a very professional away performance.

Here's what Ibrox News learned from Rangers' win.

McCausland ready to start

The last few weeks have seen Ross McCausland begin to break into the Rangers first-team consistently, with impressive cameos from the bench ensuring that the Light Blues have been eager to extend his stay at Ibrox.

But many have questioned whether or not the 20-year-old is ready to start games for Clement's side and it is safe to say, he answered those questions with a fantastic display on Sunday as he carried an immense threat down the right wing.

McCausland may have got away with one as he went down incredibly easily to win Rangers an early penalty but he was unfortunate to not open his goalscoring account as he saw his first-half strike ruled out for a foul in the build-up.

The 20-year-old deserves to keep his place following the international break as it seems the Gers have a real gem on their hands. Now they just have to ensure he stays at Ibrox.

Lammers doesn't fit

Since Clement arrived at Ibrox, he has been keen to give every player a clean slate in his side and one of those players who has struggled to take advantage of the reset under the Belgian has been Sam Lammers.

The Dutchman was dropped to the bench on Sunday after failing to impress during the win over Sparta Prague, with Tom Lawrence preferred in the number 10 position and the Welsh international impressed, picking up the assist for Dessers' opener.

With Cantwell and Lawrence both impressing in the fight for the attacking midfield position, it feels as though Lammers has fallen to third choice in Glasgow. Given the form of McCausland and Abdallah Sima, he is unlikely to start out wide.

At this moment in time, the 26-year-old is a spare part at Glasgow.

Sima must do more

For much of the season, Abdallah Sima has been one of Rangers' best players. Still, in recent weeks the goals have dried up for the Brighton loanee and he had another frustrating afternoon at the Tony Macaroni Arena on Sunday.

Sima had three shots in the match but failed to force Shamal George into a single save as two of his efforts were blocked immediately and his third drifted well wide of the post. Luckily Rangers are finding goals from elsewhere, but Sima now hasn't scored in six matches.

The winger lost more duels than any other player on either side with nine and committed a clumsy four fouls in what was an unusually sloppy display [Fotmob]. Hopefully, following the international break, he can rediscover the form he showed for the majority of October.
