Leeds United midfielder Marc Roca will return to the club this summer as Real Betis kickstart a "chess game" to secure his services for next season.

Leeds' chances of promotion have been dealt a huge blow in the last week by the defeat to QPR followed by Ipswich Town picking up four points.

It leaves the Whites needing a miracle to finish in the top two, or face the dreaded playoffs that historically haven't been a fruitful avenue for the club.

The Spaniard has been in great form for Real Betis this season and would definitely be wanted back at the Estadio Benito Villamarin if circumstances allow for it, and he'd certainly want that move too.

However, a lot of what happens for these loan players in the summer depends on whether Daniel Farke can secure promotion.

They claim that this is the first stage of a "chess game" to ensure they succeed in negotiations with Leeds to sign him for next season, as well as trying to keep Guido Rodriguez too:

Roca needs to leave permanently Leeds will need the money coming in during the summer window, and Roca looks like one of the best assets we have in that group of loan players.

Him heading back to Leeds is interesting because he doesn't want to be here, Leeds don't want him, and Betis do, so it's a bizarre move.
