Real Madrid started their Copa del Rey title defence with a 31 win over Arandina, with goals from Joselu Mato, Brahim Diaz and Rodrygo.

Turkish teenager Arda Guler made his longawaited debut for the club and impressed in the opening 45 minutes of the game.

Joselu was delighted with his teammates' performance and spoke about scoring Real Madrid's first converted penalty of the season.

Real Madrid began their Copa del Rey title defence on Saturday evening with a comfortable 31 victory over fourthtier Arandina. The team saw goals from Joselu Mato, Brahim Diaz and Rodrygo. However, it was Turkish teenager Arda Guler who stole the show as he finally made his longawaited debut for Los Blancos.

Guler impressed in the opening 45 minutes of play, showing promise despite being unable to score. Teammate Joselu expressed delight at seeing Guler's performance on the pitch: "Before we started, I told him to enjoy himself... He had been away for a long time; it was his first time with us."

Joselu also discussed scoring Real Madrid's first converted penalty of the season after three failed attempts: "The gaffer gives me confidence to keep shooting them... Today it was my turn."

Overall, both Joselu and Guler were satisfied with their performances against Arandina as they now look forward to facing Atletico Madrid in Wednesday's Spanish Super Cup semifinal match in Riyadh.
