Pundit suggests Tottenham target Santiago Gimenez could soon find himself at Real Madrid Former Feyenoord star Willem van Hanegem, who currently works as a pundit, has suggested that Tottenham Hotspur target Santiago Gimenez could soon find himself at Real Madrid.

Gimenez, 22, has taken the Eredivisie by storm, scoring 12 times and assisting two goals in eight league matches this season. This has unsurprisingly caught the eye of European clubs.

"He has the qualities to play at the absolute top, in England or Spain. It would be great if he plays for Real Madrid or Manchester United. He will only remain at Feyenoord for the time being. Everyone likes him very much; he doesn't get nervous when he misses an opportunity.

"He doesn't get desperate, for example, he could have made 15 or 16 (goals) already. That's how you look at him, because he has those qualities. "He doesn't get stuck in it, that's a sign that things are going well in his head. He remains calm, he knows he will be a top scorer."

Worth making a move? It is very easy to quote Real Madrid and Manchester United as two clubs a player can join if he wants to make it to the top. The pundit's comments should be taken in the context that he sees the Mexican star playing at a top club in the future.

Spurs are very much that. No one needs reminding of the striker Tottenham housed for the last decade in their starting XI. Following in his footsteps and playing in that position at Spurs can in itself be a privilege for any top striker.

Joselu's initial loan move is yet to bear fruit. Hopefully, they either get Kylian Mbappe or Carlo Ancelotti (or whoever follows him at Real Madrid) is happy with the current set-up with Jude Bellingham playing in an advanced role so that Spurs can have a free run at Gimenez.

More Tottenham Hotspur News Of course, there may not be anything concrete right now but the former Cruz Azul striker is worth keeping an eye on. He is a proper No. 9 who can dribble and pass and can be honed into a world-class player (if he isn't one already). One problem, however, can be his contract, which runs until June 2027 (Transfermarkt).
