Jamie Carragher criticises Arsenal star after Bayern Munich draw with Real Madrid

Jamie Carragher says Kim Min-jau 'cost' Bayern Munich in their draw with Real Madrid (CBS Sports) Jamie Carragher believes Kim Min-jae cost Bayern Munich against Real Madrid the same way Jakub Kiwior did for Arsenal in the Champions League.

Bayern and Madrid 2-2 in the first leg of their Champions League semi final on Tuesday evening but Thomas Tuchel's side will be unhappy that they are not taking an advantage to the Santiago Bernabeu for the return fixture next week.

Vinicius Junior opened the scoring for Madrid as he dragged Kim out of position before he met Toni Kroos' inch-perfect pass with a neat finish past Manuel Neuer.

The South Korea international was then at fault again in the second half as he fouled Rodrygo inside Bayern's area, which allowed Vinicius Junior to step up and score a penalty to equalise for Madrid in the 83rd minute.

And Carragher feels Kim's nightmare performance was similar to that of Kiwior, who was taken off at half time in Arsenal's 2-2 draw with Bayern in the first leg of their Champions League quarter final last month.

'The reason Bayern Munich have beat Arsenal is because Arsenal had a defender in the first leg - Kiwior - who was not at the level. He cost them, he cost Arsenal in that first leg,' Carragher said during his post-match analysis for CBS Sports.

Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior celebrates scoring their first goal as Bayern Munich's Kim Min-jae looks dejected Kim Min-jae was dragged out of position for Vinicius Junior's first goal for Real Madrid (Reuters) 'Kim has cost Bayern Munich in this first leg, he really has because they've been the dominant team, the better team but they've been let down by a defender at the back.

'And that's what happened to Arsenal and Bayern obviously capitalised on that but Real Madrid look like they will capitalise on this from Bayern Munich.'

'I think that will really hurt Bayern Munich tonight, psychologically.

'Because they were the better team, they played really well and they still didn't win at home.

'And there's this feeling with Real Madrid with whoever coms up against them.

'I've written them off so often, Champions League final against Liverpool I couldn't see how they'd beat Liverpool but they beat them. Beat Manchester City in the last round, a couple of years ago they beat Manchester City, you're scratching your head thinking, 'how has that happened?'.

'But they've done it again in terms of getting a result here. I would see how the second leg goes but for Bayern Munich to play so well as they did and still not win the game, I don't know how psychologically they will be able to believe they can go to the Bernabeu and get through.'
