Arsenal is reportedly interested in triggering Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi's release clause, according to Mundo Deportivo. The Gunners have been considering signing a new midfielder, with names like Amadou Onana, Andre Trindade and Douglas Luiz being mentioned as potential targets. However, they are now planning to reignite their interest in signing Zubimendi by triggering his PS52m release clause.
Zubimendi usually plays as a deeplying playmaker at Reale Arena and is considered one of the best midfielders in La Liga. He possesses technical ability, passing skills and defensive contributions that would make him an asset for Arsenal if they can convince him to move to Emirates Stadium.
Real Sociedad and the player’s representatives haven’t ruled out Zubimendi’s departure this month but he hasn't made up his mind about leaving his boyhood club yet. It remains to be seen whether Arsenal will eventually opt to sign him during this winter window.
Meanwhile, Arsenal will be looking to return to winning ways after enduring three consecutive defeats when they face Crystal Palace later this month.
