Dan Bardell believes Diego Carlos deserves more credit for his form this season after Aston Villa joined the race to sign Sevilla centre-back Loic Bade.

The Villans are facing competition from Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, PSG and Newcastle United for the 24-year-old [Vamos Mi Sevilla].

The centre-back is said to have a release clause of PS42million which could tempt Unai Emery into a bid and spell an end to life at Villa Park for someone like Carlos.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell has piled praise on the Brazilian and can't see Villa moving for a replacement in the January transfer window.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bardell said: "I don't expect to see any movement in Villa's defence in terms of centre-backs in January.

"I wouldn't expect that to happen. They're in a situation where Mings is working his way back, Carlos is playing games, Konsa is playing games and so is Torres.

"There is football to be had for everyone in that area and I think that will keep them all happy. I think Carlos deserves some credit because it can't have been easy to know you weren't wanted in the summer and looked at as an acceptable loss.

"In the main, he's come in and been good and in the big games, he's always turned up for Villa.

"Centre back isn't really an area I think Villa need to look at, I don't see them moving for Bade in January."

Diego Carlos deserves Aston Villa credit amid Loic Bade links The 31-year-old has made multiple high-profile errors for Villa so far this season with the latest coming in the defeat against Liverpool on Saturday (9 November).

This has made him an unpopular figure with certain sections of supporters as mistakes are starting to cost his side points.

As a result, the signing of Bade could prove to be a positive one given that he has Champions League and Europa League experience and has also been called up to the France national team.
