Toulouse FC wrote to Liverpool to apologise after Jurgen Klopp's press conference was disrupted following their Europa League defeat, club general director Olivier Jaubert has revealed.

The German was visibly irate by the level of noise coming from outside the press tent where he was addressing the media after the Ligue 1 side ended the Reds 100% record in Europe this season.

Toulouse supporters were banging on the tent and singing songs after their historic triumph over the Premier League side. Following their Coupe de France success last season, it is just the third European group stage that they have qualified for.

The win reignited their hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages of the competition after Union SG suffered a 3-0 defeat away to LASK in Austria.

"We were as organised as this press conference," said Klopp as he was forced to give the remainder of his answer over the chants from the French fans.

It added to a frustrating evening for everyone associated with Liverpool. Despite their dominant 5-1 win over the Ligue 1 side in the reverse fixture at Anfield, the Reds wilted under the pressure in the south of France against Carles Martinez Novell's side.

Jaubert has explained why the press conference was forced to be held away from the usual press room and revealed that the Reds have received an apology.

"I immediately made contact with the general secretary of Liverpool. We wrote a letter of apology to the club," he told RMC Sport. "It turns out that UEFA judged that the Stadium had a press room that was too small for this meeting."

"There was a request to install a marquee to host press conferences, such as for the Rugby World Cup. This marquee is obviously outside the enclosure, right next to it, in a completely protected location. But, inevitably, there was the crowd singing."
