Al Nassr target rapid Aston Villa winger to partner Cristiano Ronaldo - report

Aston Villa winger Moussa Diaby is reportedly on the radar of Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr only a year after joining the Villains, according to the Daily Mail.

Villa secured Diaby's signature in a club-record deal last summer, but that has not stopped the Riyadh-based club from targeting his signature.

Al Nassr finished runners-up in the Saudi League last season and are looking to revamp their squad, with Diaby emerging as a potential target.

Villa signed Diaby from Bayer Leverkusen for PS51.9 million, and the 24-year-old played a crucial role in their terrific campaign.

He registered ten goals and 14 big chances in 54 appearances, helping Villa finish fourth in the Premier League and qualify for the Champions League.

However, landing Diaby wouldn't be easy for Al Nassr. He's contracted to Villa until 2028 and is considered a key player by manager Unai Emery.

Emery does not want to lose a pivotal player just as they return to Europe's top competition.

Funds won't be a problem for Al Nassr. They signed five-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo on one of the heaviest contracts in football and have shelled out obscene sums to sign other stars from Europe.

Al Nassr are reportedly open to offers for Sadio Mane and have offered him to rivals Al Ittihad. Diaby will likely replace the former Liverpool attacker if they can get a deal over the line.

Meanwhile, Villa have sorted their Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) needs, balancing their books through other transfer activities.

They have sold Omari Kellyman and Tim Iroegbunam to Chelsea and Everton. Also, they are in the process of selling Douglas Luiz to Juventus, with Enzo Barrenechea and Samuel Iling-Junior moving to England.

Whether Villa entertain any offers for Diaby remains to be seen. The Villains are seemingly in a strong place financially and want to keep their key players ahead of a very busy 2024/25 season.
