Aston Villa plan to sell Cameron Archer this summer after agreeing a deal to re-sign Jaden Philogene from Hull, sources have told Football Insider.

Philogene will undergo a Villa medical on Monday after he opted to snub offers from Everton and Ipswich in favour of a return to his old club.

Archer, meanwhile, has returned to Villa Park after Sheffield United's relegation, and the club will now look to sell him once again before the window shuts.

Villa would prefer to get a PS15million-plus fee for the 22-year-old and for him to leave on a permanent deal rather than entertain another loan in an effort to increase their margin for further spending.

Aston Villa plot Cameron Archer sale as Jaden Philogene medical booked Archer's deal with Sheffield United saw the Blades agree an PS18million deal which would only be triggered if they had stayed in the Premier League.

An initial instalment of the fee was paid last summer, but following their rock-bottom finish, he has now returned to Villa Park.

The striker came through Villa's academy after joining the club aged eight, but has made just 14 senior appearances for his boyhood side.

A successful loan spell at Middlesbrough saw him score 11 goals in 23 appearances in the 2022-23 season, before he bagged four in 32 for Sheffield United last time out.

Now, they will look to secure a fee for his signature before the transfer window closes in September, with interested clubs keeping a close eye on the situation.
