Celtic have confirmed the capture of Aston Villa keeper Viljami Sinisalo on a long-term deal.

Football Scotland exclusively revealed on Monday night that the Finland international, 22, had thrashed out a PS1million switch to Parkhead. The shotstopper was spotted with his new teammates at Glasgow Airport on Tuesday morning as Brendan Rodgers' side flew out to America for their 12-day pre-season tour.

And now the Hoops have officially announced his signing on a five-year contract. Speaking for the first time, Sinisalo said: "I know Celtic is a huge football club and it's really exciting to be part of something so big. It feels amazing."

It's understood Sinisalo has been brought in as a back-up and will be mentored by the incoming Kasper Schmeichel. The Denmark No1 underwent a medical in Italy on Tuesday and will replace the recently retired Joe Hart between the sticks as first-choice keeper. Schmeichel - who started all four games at the Euros - is a free agent after spending a year with Anderlecht.
