Micah Richards couldn't resist a cheeky pun during the BBC's coverage of Turkey against Georgia at Euro 2024 on Tuesday, but presenter Mark Chapman was left speechless

Micah Richards hilariously left Mark Chapman lost for words during the BBC's live coverage of Turkey's 3-1 win against Georgia.

Chapman was on presenting duties for the Euro 2024 clash in which Turkey right-back Mert Muldur scored a sensational volley to give his side the lead. At half-time with the scores at 1-1, the punditry panel - including Richards, Brentford manager Thomas Frank and ex-Wales captain Ashley Williams - waxed lyrical about Muldur's strike.

Williams rounded up the analysis by describing it as an 'amazing goal' but Richards had the last word - or two in fact. "What we do we call it?" the former Manchester City defender said, teeing himself up. "Turkish Delight!"

His pun had Williams and Frank in stitches, with the latter saying: "This guy. That's a good comeback." Richards then saw Chapman with his head in his hands, adding: "Chappers, come on."

After Turkey ended up winning 3-1, Chapman did allow Richards to end the show with his Turkish Delight pun. That was after another cracking goal, too, as Real Madrid wonderkid Arda Guler fired in a screamer from 25 yards to put them 2-1 up.

Georgia pushed with all their might to equalise and hit the post in added time, but Kerem Akturkoglu was able to give Turkey all three points with a late clincher after the lowest-ranked side in the tournament sent everyone up for a corner.

Guler had become the youngest player ever to score on his European Championship debut and beamed post-match: "I am just thrilled, no words to describe how I feel. I was dreaming of this goal constantly. I am working extra hard to give back to the amazing love I've been receiving.

Fellow goalscorer Akturkoglu added: "We dreamed of starting with a win. We knew we were coming to a great atmosphere, playing like we're at home.

"This is a great start but we're just beginning. We had never started with a win at the Euros. This is historic for us. We need to stay grounded if we want this victory to mean something. It will only mean something if we can continue this way. I thought (Guler) would score that one as soon as Arda touched that ball. Mashallah, mashallah (God has willed it, god has willed it)."
