Crysencio Summerville has been linked with a Leeds United exit

Dan Bardell has suggested that a move away for Crysencio Summerville could suit both parties if Leeds United aren't promoted to the Premier League this summer.

Daniel Farke's side drew 0-0 away to Norwich City in the play-Offs and will need a win at Elland Road to earn a place in the final at Wembley.

Should the Whites not earn promotion, they may struggle to keep star players like Summerville - who's already been linked with a summer exit [1908.nl] - in the transfer window.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell believes the Championship Player of the Year could move on for financial reasons irrespective of Leeds' division.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Bardell said: "It's always difficult because if enough money comes in then Leeds will need to sell if they don't go up so it works both ways.

"If you're a player who wants to go on and better yourself by playing at a higher level then it's completely understandable because people often overlook the fact that football works both ways.

"If a club wants or needs to sell you then no one questions loyalty so I think it should work the other way around and you shouldn't be seen to owe a club anything if they get relegated or anything like that.

"He'll have options on the table if Leeds don't go up. It may fall that even if Leeds do go up he'll have options and a decision to make. I think a year in the Championship has been good for him.

"It's interesting where he could go because I don't see a club that leaps out to me. Bournemouth and Brentford have come to my head or Brighton, somewhere like that. It will be interesting to see the level if he does move. Does he make a big jump or give himself a shot at the ones I've named?"

Should Leeds United sell Crysencio Summerville? There is no doubt that the Dutchman has been one of the most important players at Elland Road under Farke this season.

This has seen him score 19 and assist nine goals [FotMob] as the Whites accumulated 90 points in the Championship.

With that, he won the Player of the Season award in the division despite not achieving automatic promotion.

After a goalless draw against Norwich, Leeds know they just have to win at Elland Road and they will be in a playoff final.

Leeds United Crysencio Summerville Crysencio Summerville has been a key man for Leeds this season This would see them face Southampton or West Bromwich Albion in the final with a Premier League place at stake.

Irrespective of the result, finances are going to be cross-examined by the hierarchy as they look to build a squad capable of the top tier.

This could see it be necessary that Summerville is sold so Farke can build a squad of better quality to face the best sides.

Despite the quality that he has and the importance of individual talent, the squad needs to be put first should they be promoted.
