Anton Ferdinand has branded Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero as a "disgrace" after his tackle on Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez.

Cristian Romero was sent off in Chelsea's 4-1 win against Tottenham earlier this week for a poor challenge on Enzo Fernandez in Spurs' box, which also resulted in a penalty for the visitors.

And Ferdinand, speaking on FIVE, was not impressed with what he saw from the 25-year-old.

Cristian Romero a disgrace Ferdinand has slammed Romero for his tackle on his Argentina teammate.

Discussing the challenge on FIVE, the former West Ham United defender said: "I think Romero's a disgrace. That tackle... he's known for it. But I just think, come on. You're in the box, you don't follow through like that."

Fortunately it did not, with Fernandez confirming via social media that he is OK. It is great news with another tough game awaiting Chelsea.

The Blues, of course, host Premier League and European champions Manchester City on Sunday. If they are to have any chance of winning, then Mauricio Pochettino is going to need his best players available and Fernandez is obviously one of them.

Chelsea's game against City is not one where they are likely to have much of the ball, though, with Pep Guardiola's side always so dominant. It is a match where the home team are going to have to probably play on the counter and rely on set-pieces to win.

If Pochettino's men lose, they will have to wait two weeks before they have the chance to bounce back with another international break just around the corner.
