Report: Liverpool are hoping to make £50m player their first signing after Jurgen Klopp leaves
Source:Tbrfootball

Liverpool are now said to be very interested in an impressive summer signing as they plan for life after Jurgen Klopp.

It's a difficult one to balance for Liverpool this summer, they'll need to appoint a new sporting director, a manager to replace Klopp, whilst also progressing their playing staff.

Of course, all the preparation Liverpool are making for the summer transfer window right now could then be vetoed by either member of the new staff.

That being said, Liverpool are now thought to have established a key transfer target to propose for their new set-up.

According to The Telegraph, Liverpool are very interested in signing Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi this summer.

It's long been thought that Guehi would leave Palace after the current campaign, given the defender is unlikely to extend his deal running to 2026 and the club do want to extract the maximum value possible.

It doesn't seem as if new head coach Oliver Glasner can do much to change the situation, with Guehi harbouring big ambitions for his next step.

Liverpool now planning to make Marc Guehi their first summer signing According to the report, both Manchester United and Chelsea are also interested in Guehi, meaning a bidding war could ensue.

Perhaps both Guehi and Everton's Jarrad Branthwaite will be subject of a lot of interest this summer, a pairing who soon wouldn't look out of place for their country.

32-year-old Virgil van Dijk still has plenty of excellent years ahead, and there's currently no reason to think he won't extend his deal.

Ibrahima Konate has also proven his ability to be one of the Premier League's best this season, forming a formidable partnership with his captain.

And when you consider Jarrel Quansah is also developing nicely, Liverpool's next manager will surely be pleased.

If the rumours are to be believed, and Xabi Alonso is Liverpool's next manager, it will be interesting to see if PS50m-rated Guehi would still become the club's marquee summer signing.

There's a lot of ifs and buts right now, but it's clear that there's a lot of reason for optimism at Anfield.

And with that considered, Micah Richards has now chosen his Premier League winning team.
