The Reds are due to face the German club on Wednesday night in their third league phase fixture of the competition this season.
Liverpool will take on Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday in their fixture just before travelling to Germany to face Leipzig. The Bundesliga outfit were in action on Saturday afternoon in the top flight against Mainz.
First-half goals from Xavi Simons and Willi Orban secured a 2-0 victory for Leipzig just days before facing Liverpool in a firm warning for Arne Slot's players ahead of the Champions League clash. The game also saw the home crowd at Mainz send a message to former Reds manager Jurgen Klopp.
The decision by Klopp to join the Red Bull Group has been met with some backlash in Germany, particularly among the fanbases of his former clubs, Mainz and Borussia Dortmund. Klopp spent seven years as manager of each club, respectively, from 2001-15 before taking charge at Liverpool, and it was a section of Mainz supporters who made their voices heard by the former Reds manager.
As part of the new role, Klopp will work with to support the various clubs within the Red Bull Group. As well as Leipzig, the group have clubs with Red Bull Salzburg, New York Red Bulls and Red Bull Bragantino.
