Liverpool returned to the top of the Premier League with a 2-1 win over Chelsea as star forward Mohamed Salah was on target

The 32-year-old is one of three key players in Arne Slot's side that have contract speculation lingering over them with captain Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold both set to become free agents at the end of the season.

Salah netted his fifth Premier League goal of the season in an important win over Chelsea on Sunday. The former Chelsea forward stepped up to send Robert Sanchez the wrong way as the Reds returned to the top of the Premier League in their 2-1 triumph.

"He'll have an eye on Thierry Henry (175) and Frank Lampard (177) by the end of this season I'd imagine," said the former defender. "I think stats like this are one of the biggest reasons Salah will sign a contract at Liverpool.

"Of course there will talk about money and length of contract, but I think these are the things that really get the juices flowing for Mo Salah, he breaks every record at Liverpool.

"But getting up as far as he can up those lists are a big part of his focus as a player. I'm not saying he's selfish, he's a great team player."
