Crook also highlighted that Dyche could be the manager to unlock Phillips' potential once again, with the England midfielder failing to impress at both City and on loan at West Ham last season.

On Everton's transfer targets, Crook said: "Kalvin Phillips is a possibility on loan, if City are willing to loan him out again.

"It didn't work out at all coming down to London with West Ham, but he can stay in the North West and I think Sean Dyche actually is the type of manager who might get Phillips somewhere back to his best."

Kalvin Phillips could be unlocked if Everton transfer goes through It's clear to see that Phillips needs a fresh start after two torrid years at Manchester City, and it's even more clear that a sizeable hole has just opened up in defensive midfield at Goodison Park.
