Manchester City are approaching another season where they will try and reclaim another Premier League title.

In their previous campaign, Pep Guardiola's side became the first team to win four consecutive Premier League trophies.

Ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, one pundit and former top-flight player has made an interesting claim not only regarding what City could do in the future but also what their close rivals Manchester United could be in for.

He said: "I think there might be a changing of the guard of Man United and Man City again in the next few years. I think when Pep leaves, I think things might change.

"I just feel like everyone wants to leave Man City eventually.

"Not recently but in the next five years I think there might be a bit of a change. It's not going to be so dominant for Man City."

City shouldn't be worried about United Even though United beat City in the last FA Cup final, the fact that Guardiola's side finished 31 points ahead of the Red Devils in the Premier League last season shows the gulf in quality between the two Manchester sides.

Not only that, but the Blues scored 39 more goals and conceded 24 fewer than Erik ten Hag's side.

Even though United have made some big changes behind the scenes in terms of their ownership and who they have in charge of football matters, we feel that Guardiola and City should not be too concerned about their Manchester rivals as long as they continue to focus on themselves.

However, the prospect of Guardiola, who recently said that his players need to be mentally prepared for their upcoming preseason games, eventually leaving the club is something that City will have to prepare for and make sure they are as strong as possible without him.
