Fabrizio Romano has shared some details regarding the possibility of Manchester City resigning Leroy Sane.

Earlier this week, it was claimed by journalist Christian Falk that City, alongside fellow Premier League side Liverpool, are interested in a potential transfer move for the Bayern Munich winger in the next summer window.

Now though, Romano has shared some extra information on this particular transfer situation.

He said: "I saw these rumours but I don't think it's something really concrete, the come back of Sane, at the moment.

"There were rumours because Sane has still not extended his contract at Bayern and this is why we hear a lot of rumours about Sane but for Bayern this is a priority, to extend the contract of Sane and they will push for that."

City signed the winger from Schalke 04 back in the 2016 summer transfer window in a deal worth PS37m.

During his time at the club, the winger made 135 appearances in all competitions, scoring 39 goals and delivering 46 assists along the way.

In the 2020 summer transfer window, Sane made a return to German by signing for Bayern in a deal worth over PS54m.

Since then, the German has scored 47 goals and supplied 44 assists in 151 appearances for his current side.

Given how successful he was during his time with Pep Guardiola's side and how effective he has since proven to be with Bayern, it's no surprise that City and Liverpool are reportedly keen on bringing him back to England.

However, on the flip side, it's understandable why the German club are apparently eager to tie him down to the club with a new contract, especially since his current deal is set to expire in the summer of 2025.

Sane recently spoke out about his future by saying that he hasn't been thinking about it and that he is only focused on the season right now before adding that Bayern is his "first point of contact" in terms of potentially signing a new deal at the club.

Moving forward, it seems that this is a potential situation that will likely either open up for a possible transfer move for him or be shut down completely if he signs a new contract at Bayern in the summer, meaning that City will have to be patient if they want to try and lure Sane back to the Etihad.
