Luke Shaw is set to be named in England's squad for the European Championship though he is not expected to feature for Manchester United in the FA Cup final this weekend.

United teammates Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire are both also set to be named in Gareth Southgate's provisional squad for the tournament, though it is understood Marcus Rashford has been omitted after a poor individual season which has seen him drop firmly down the pecking order behind the likes of Anthony Gordon, Bukayo Saka and Cole Palmer.

It is understood Mason Mount and Jadon Sancho have both also missed out, though they were unlikely to ever be included after their own struggles over the season.

The 28-year-old is still England's first choice at left-back and Southgate is hopeful he will be able to play apart for England in Germany this summer, after a string of impressive performances for his country at recent major tournaments.

Last week, Ten Hag revealed Maguire had a 'fair chance' of featuring in the FA Cup final against Man City this weekend, while Shaw was less likely to be involved.

"For England, I can't say - it's not up to me. But for the Cup final, we're working on it," he told reporters. "Harry Maguire, I think it's a fair chance he will be available. Luke is more complicated, in this moment; I think it's less of a chance that he will make it but there is still a chance. He had a setback, and now we have to find out how he is."
